New Movies in 2021

Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic, most movies set to be released have been delayed, or moved to streaming platforms without a premiere. However, with the vaccine underway, new movies will be hitting theaters soon.

Among the new releases in 2021 will be a live action animated film featuring Hanna-Barbera fan favorites: Tom and Jerry. Starring Chloe Grace Moretz, Michael Pena, and Rob Delaney, the film will show how the nemesis first met, and how their classic rivalry began.

Cloverleaf senior Emily Pamer remembers watching the cartoon as a kid.

“I always used to watch it with my brother,” Pamer said. “We both loved it and I’m really excited for a new movie.”

The movie is set to release on Friday, Feb. 26.

In addition to old animated fan favorites making a comeback, a star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be making an appearance in her first solo movie. After appearing in Marvel’s Avengers movies since 2012, Scarlett Johanssan will finally be getting her own film highlighting the backstory of her famous character: Black Widow

Black Widow is set to be released on May 7 of this year after several setbacks due to the pandemic. The film will star Johansson and Florence Pugh, and is rumored to include Robert Downey Jr. The plot is set between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, as Natasha Romanoff confronts her past.

The long awaited film has been highly anticipated by Cloverleaf senior Cooper Flora.

“It’s going to be really exciting to finally see her family and backstory,” Flora said.
